NursingI

The Hawassa College of Health Sciences educational journey began with training junior nurses, and then progressed to Level III and IV nursing programs.  For the last ten years, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing has been offered, with a generic degree program added in 2023.

Today, the college provides training in post-basic and generic Bachelor of Science in Nursing, alongside a Level IV nursing diploma, available through both self and government sponsorship.  All programs integrate theoretical learning, simulated practical exercises, and real-world clinical placements.  Students pursuing diplomas are required to pass the Center of Competence exam, while degree-seeking students must pass the pre-internship exam before beginning their practical training.  These comprehensive, curriculum-driven programs enable the college to significantly contribute to resolving regional health issues.

Sincerely!

The training program modalities

The trainings in all programs include theory-based sessions, practical sessions on simulated training materials, and practical attachments on real patients. During the course of training, diploma-level students are expected to pass the Center of Competence exam (COC), and those degree program students are expected to pass the pre-internship exam before joining practical attachment. By doing these, we are playing a crucial role in solving community problems related to health in the region by providing updated training based on the curriculum designed to train in each level.
