Very warm welcome to Hawassa College of Health Science’s official website! Hawassa College of Health science (HCHS) is one of well-established public College in Ethiopia engaged in teaching, research and community services in the last 45 years. It was established as health professionals training institute in 1972-1989 E.C. In 1990 E.C, it has got the College status and started teaching in diploma level. In 2006 E.C, the College has opened three post basic degree programs in Midwifery, Nursing and Public Health Officer. Currently, HCHS is one of the top ranking Colleges in Ethiopia managing both degree and level four trainings by seven departments; which are Clinical nurse department, Midwifery department, Pharmacy department, Laboratory department, Public health department, Health informatics department and Emergency medical service department. The College aspires to be center of excellence in 2030 in solving the nation’s problem through high quality and problem solving research process.

Research and community services have been among the core missions of the Ethiopian ministry of health and regional Health bureau. In light with this mission, HCHS has identified twelve research thematic areas and has carried out extensive research over the last two decades. Through these efforts, HCHS has played a significant role in the country's development by sharing research findings that benefit the local community and the nation as a whole.

The college's researchers have published numerous articles in international peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the generation of new knowledge. Additionally, HCHS is actively engaged in providing community services in health and training.

Due to its exceptional performance in research and community service, the college has attracted the interest of several national institutions and organizations for collaborative partnerships.

The college welcomes researchers, academic institutions, and other organizations interested to collaborate on research, technological innovations, and community service initiatives. The college has very experienced assistant professors and dedicated young academic staff who are committed to collaborating with our esteemed partners.
