Welcome to the official website of Hawassa College of Health Science (HCHS), the only public health science college in the Sidama Region of Ethiopia.  For 45 years, HCHS has been a leading institution dedicated to teaching, research, and community service.  Originally established as a health professional training institute (1972-1989 EC), it gained college status in 1990 EC, initially offering diplomas.  Degree programs in Midwifery, Nursing, and Public Health Officer were added in 2006 EC.

Today, HCHS is a top-ranked Ethiopian college providing both diploma and bachelor's degrees through its seven departments: Clinical Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Public Health, Health Informatics, and Emergency Medical Services.  The college's primary aim is to train high-quality health professionals across various disciplines to serve the community. 

The Directorate of the college is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing academic programs and curricula, as well as facilitating the recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and professional development of faculty.  HCHS encourages prospective students to make it their first choice for health science education.
